Tuition Assistance
Affording a Kehillah Education
We understand that families often have questions about how tuition is set and how financial aid works at independent schools. At Kehillah, we are committed to both excellence and equity. Each year, our Board of Directors sets tuition at a level that allows us to attract and retain exceptional educators, offer robust academic and co-curricular programs, and support the well-being of our faculty and staff in a region with a high cost of living.
At the same time, we believe that a family’s financial circumstances should not prevent a student from experiencing a Kehillah education. That’s why we maintain a substantial financial aid budget, designed to bridge the gap between what a family can reasonably contribute and the full cost of tuition.
The financial aid priority deadline for Fall 2026 is Thursday, January 8. Applications received after this date will continue to be reviewed as long as funds remain available.
We recognize that sharing personal financial information can feel vulnerable. That’s why dignity, privacy, and respect are at the heart of our financial aid process. Applications are reviewed confidentially by a trained committee that does not have access to family names, and financial aid information is never shared beyond the Admissions and Business Offices.
Our hope is that every family who feels aligned with Kehillah’s values and vision will feel welcomed and supported in exploring what is possible. If you have questions or would like to talk about your unique circumstances, we’re here for you.
Privacy, confidentiality, and dignity are at the forefront of Kehillah’s financial aid policies. Financial aid decisions are made by a committee of experts who review applications without seeing family names. In addition, no Kehillah employee other than our Admissions Department and the Business Office knows whether or how much financial aid a family receives.
Full tuition for the 2025-26 academic year is $65,750.
Below are frequently asked questions
about tuition and financial aid:
What does it cost to attend Kehillah?
Tuition for 2025-26 is $65,750. Kehillah’s Board of Trustees will set tuition for 2026-27 in February 2026. In addition to tuition, students must purchase textbooks (new or used), which can cost $400 to $800 per year, depending on the student’s courses. Optional educational travel is also additional. Tuition includes most other school activities and retreats.
What payment plans does Kehillah offer?
There are three payment plans:
- Plan A: Tuition is paid in full by July 20 (no service fee).
- Plan B: 60% of tuition is due on July 20 and 40% on September 20 (1% service fee).
- Plan C: 10 monthly payments by automatic debit beginning in July and ending in April (4% service fee).
Is financial aid available?
Kehillah is committed to ensuring that a Kehillah education remains accessible to qualified students regardless of their economic circumstances. Kehillah awards financial aid on the basis of demonstrated need and the availability of funds. Financial aid decisions are made independently from admissions decisions and in no way affect a candidate’s chances for admission. The Financial Aid Committee members, other than the Admission Department, are not provided with a family’s identifying information, and the family’s financial information is kept strictly confidential.
How is a family's need determined?
Families submit detailed financial information (income, expenses, assets, and liabilities) through Clarity, an online application tool. The Clarity software recommends an award based on each family’s individual situation, adjusted for the cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Kehillah’s Financial Aid Committee reviews the recommendation to ensure that all available information has been taken into account and then finalizes the award. The Committee members, other than the Admission Department, do not view the names or other identifying information of the applicant families.
How do we apply for aid?
Click on the Clarity icon below to begin your application. You may log in and out of the program while in the process of completing it. The fee for the application is $60. Income-based waivers are available through Clarity for those who meet eligibility criteria.
How long do financial aid awards last?
Each award is for one year. Families must reapply annually for aid. Awards tend not to vary greatly year to year unless there is a significant change in a family’s resources.
When do I find out whether my student will receive financial aid?
Financial aid awards are emailed with a student’s offer of admission to Kehillah in March.
We are grateful to the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund
for providing financial support for our school.
