Jim Gunn, Kehillah’s beloved Drama teacher of ten years, passed away in August of 2015.
Jim taught at Kehillah from 2005 to 2015 and touched the lives of countless students, parents, faculty and, staff. He was accomplished in all aspects of theatrical production and had worked with local theatre companies and schools in the area since 1994.
He taught drama at the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre, Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School and the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos. He directed hundreds of community productions with Kehillah students, teaching theatre classes, running the after-school theatre program, advising the student-run improvisational group Mish Mosh, and directing the annual school musical.
Jim also trained students in all aspects of theatrical production including directing, lighting, sound, set/stage building, acting, choreography and playwriting.
The Jim Gunn memorial fund was established to honor his memory and support performing arts at Kehillah Jewish High School.
Donations from individuals and a very special tribute night at Rooster T. Feathers have raised more than $20,000 to date for the Jim Gunn Memorial Fund.
