SUPPORT FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is the Kehillah Fund so important? What does it fund?

As in every independent school, tuition only covers part of the cost of educating our students. Gifts to the Kehillah fund are vital to provide flexible resources to support our mission and impact our students, teachers, and community on a daily basis. They provide a competitive advantage to attract and retain our extraordinary community of passionate educators. Additionally, gifts to the Kehillah fund support financial aid.

Why doesn’t Kehillah simply raise tuition?

Minor tuition increases have been necessary in the past to fund the programs and costs associated with a private independent high school. The Kehillah Fund allows parents and friends of the school to pay for a portion of educational expenses to support the school through a tax-deductible donation. Without contributions from the Kehillah Fund, tuition cost per student would be prohibitive for many families.

Who is asked to contribute to the Kehillah Fund?

All members of our community are asked to participate each year. Our goal is to reach 100% participation from our current families, faculty, staff and board members.

How much am I expected to give?

We invite you to make Kehillah Jewish High School one of your primary philanthropic priorities. We ask that you contribute at a level that is personally meaningful and that makes sense for your family, keeping in mind the number of children you have at Kehillah. Please remember, every gift counts and deeply appreciated.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes, all gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Who will know the amount of my gift?

We respect the privacy of all of our donors. If you would like your gift to be anonymous in our Annual Report, please make a note with your gift or select “anonymous” when making your gift online. At the same time, we invite you to consider allowing us to make your support known so as to inspire others to give also.

Why are we asked to donate/pledge by December 31st?

Kehillah is extremely fortunate to count an extraordinary donor among our supporters who is committed to making our annual campaign as successful as possible. To that end, a matching gift program has been established to make your gift go even further. In order for Kehillah to benefit from the matching gift program, gifts must be submitted by December 31, 2018.

If I make a pledge by Dec. 31, may I pay next year?

Yes. Please pledge your support for the Kehillah Fund before December 31, 2019. You’re welcome to take until June 30, 2020 to make your gift (the Development Office will send you a reminder).

Can we make multi-year commitment to maximize our giving?

Yes, we would be happy to set this up for you. Multi-year gifts also have unique matching opportunities! Please contact Jeanie Hanson in the Development office at jhanson@kehillah.org

Can I donate stock?

Yes. Every year, many of our donors take advantage of the simplicity and income tax advantages of donating shares of stock as a charitable gift. If this is a type of donation you would like to make, please download and follow the instructions on the Kehillah Stock Transfer form.
