Dr. Jared Leaderman has a diverse professional background that includes the fields of international psychology, mental health counseling, and music therapy. Most recently, Jared served as a core faculty member in the BA Psychology Program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Additionally, he is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California), a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Massachusetts), and a Board Certified Music Therapist who recently served as the Executive Chair of the Massachusetts Music Therapy Alliance and as a board member for the New England Region of the American Music Therapy Association. Jared holds a Ph.D. in International Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology as an applied research and consulting psychologist, a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy from Lesley University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Bates College in Music and Ethnomusicology.
Prior to his graduate studies in related mental health disciplines, he served as a music educator and band director for a number of different independent schools in the Northeast, Caribbean, and Southwest. As an educator, Jared has 16 years of experience working in a school setting and has taught at every age level (from Kindergarten through to Graduate School). As a mental health clinician, Jared has over a decade of experience working with adolescents and their families and adults. Prior to moving out West in the fall of 2016, Jared worked for 8 years as a mental health counselor and music therapist with high school students and their families at a therapeutic high school in Beverly, MA.
In addition to his work at Kehillah as the Director of Counseling and Guidance, Jared has a private practice in Mountain View and lives in Santa Clara with his wife and 2-year-old Chihuahua named Lola.
