Student Voice and Agency

On October 8th, I was joined by six students for a candid and wide-ranging conversation on Kehillah’s culture and values. As these students shared reflections on their own experiences, I was struck by the frequency with which the themes of student voice and student agency came up in their remarks. I also found it interesting that a number of these students described their classes at Kehillah as forums for inquiry, dialogue, and inclusion, and suggested that this classroom culture is an important catalyst for the culture of the school as a whole.

Here are excerpts of seniors Anne Friedman, Daniel Mendelevitch, and Danielle Bruce reflecting on these ideas.
