Another busy week for the Kehillah basketball teams!

We started the week on Sunday with our annual rivalry games against JCHS in the Golden Tallis games. It was a great atmosphere at Kezar Pavilion, and while all three were close at points, unfortunately, the Wolves were able to pull away for the victory in all three games.

After an off night on Monday, the girls and boys varsity teams were back at it against Design Tech. The girls started the evening with a thrilling back and forth game. With about 90 seconds to go, Kehillah looked to take the lead, but the ball hit everything but the net. It was a game to remember, and a career high in points by Yaara B. (15 points), and a stellar performance by Ariella S. (12 points). The girls ultimately lost 42-28.

The boys followed with another excellent game that was similarly just as close, and even went to overtime. The varsity boys were led by Zach B. (23 points), and had huge contributions from Bodhi G. (12 points) and Sam B. (11 points). The boys lost a heartbreaker 64-59.

On Wednesday we celebrated our girls senior night by honoring our five seniors: Yaara B., Kira K., Avi K., Ilana K., Sara R. It was a fun event that was showcased by their good friend and teammate Olivia S. The players were honored in front of many of their friends, family, teachers, and community members.

The varsity girls started out the evening with a barrage of scoring and never looked back. They hit shot after shot, and the delighted fans were given everything they were hoping for and more. All five seniors scored baskets, and were led by Ilana K. (16 points), including a buzzer beater three pointer that brought the fans to their feet! The girls swept the season series against SF Christian with a convincing 50-17 victory. Congratulations to all of our seniors!

The varsity boys followed with a similar onslaught of points from a variety of players. The team was led by Josh L. (13 points), and Zach B. (10 points), and had contributions from each player. It was a one-sided affair, with Kehillah winning 50-33. With no senior boys on the team, it is exciting to see what this team will be able to accomplish over the next few seasons!

The final game of the week was a JV boys game against Pinewood. The teams had played last week, and most of the shots just weren’t falling. The Kehillah boys played a much cleaner game, but didn’t have an answer to the larger and more aggressive Pinewood players. The team was led in scoring by Micah N. (6 points) who hit two big three pointers to fuel the momentum during one of our scoring runs. The final of the JV boys game was 59-20. The coaches from the other team were very impressed by the growth of the team since their previous meeting just a week prior. The future is bright!

Next week will be the final week of the regular season. The JV boys and varsity girls will play on Monday, and the varsity boys and varsity girls will finish the season against Mid-Peninsula on Tuesday. There is a possibility that the varsity boys will have an opportunity to play in the Central Coast Section playoffs, but we will have to wait to hear their fate until after the final regular season game on February 15.

•••Congratulations again to the senior girls, and Go Rams!!•••
