Language Days ~ A Celebration of Multi-Lingual Proportions!
Our language classes came together to celebrate all they’ve learned thus far with a Language Day celebration that was trés magnifique!
The intention of the celebration was a collaboration between four language classes: Hebrew, French, Latin, and Spanish. Facilitated by our incredible language teachers and guided by student input, they worked together to determine the activities, shared ideas, discussed and planned how each language and culture could best be represented. The celebration was an opportunity for students to learn about the other languages and cultures being studied by their peers and gain a depth of understanding of the similarities and differences of each. The classes all learned the Simon and Garfunkle classic, America, which they skillfully translated and sang in their given language! Tom Romero, our awesome music teacher helped with this lofty process and students did a beautiful job performing. With a few brave souls willing to tackle the Latin version, everyone put their heart into this multi-lingual, multi-cultural event.
Costumed students arrived to the celebration as a character or famous person they chose to represent their country, speaking in the individual’s native language. Accompanied by their own personalized trading card to display their chosen character, which included a few interesting facts to discuss who they chose and share the knowledge of a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction individuals. The games and activities were a raucous time where a love of languages, learning, and fun were seamlessly blended. Well done to all who participated in this dynamic event. Bien hecho!
