Kehillah Art Students Place in Scholastic @ArtandWriting Awards – #GoldKey Recipient
Kol HaKavod to both Natalie Choi (’20) and Harrison Mitgang (’19) for placing in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, California Central Coast Art Region!
Natalie has been recognized as a Gold Key recipient for her art piece “The Rise of a New Day.” Gold Key work automatically advances to the national level where work will be considered by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. Her piece “Off In My Thoughts” won a Silver Key as well as two other pieces “The Journey” and “Flying,” which received honorable mention. Harrison’s piece “Blur Of Light” also received honorable mention.
Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities to celebrate creative teens. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program and become a part of the community—young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets and sculptors, video game artists and science fiction writers—along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process. The competition spans the country and brings the Scholastic Awards to local communities thanks to affiliate partners. Teens in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) apply in 29 categories of art and writing. In 2018, students submitted nearly 350,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards.
All works receiving Gold Keys will move on to national judging in New York City and will be considered for national honors: Gold and Silver Medals and Special Achievement Awards.
National Medalists will be announced on our website on March 13, 2019. Stay tuned!
