Kehillah Jewish High School at Palo Alto Model UN Competition
This past weekend, 13 students from Kehillah took part in a Model UN competition held in Palo Alto. The students were given roles and were assigned a subject prior to the event. This allowed for in-depth research and preparation ahead of time. At the event, subjects such as detention camps and health care around health care were discussed, alliances formed and dissolved, and resolutions were passed. Close to 300 students from 13 schools around the Bay Area attended. Aidan Platkin (class of 2019) got a verbal mention for his role representing Portugal in the World Health Organization, and Elan Smolar-Eisenberg (class of 2021) won an honorable mention for her role in the EOPOTUS group. Well Done!
Moving forward, the team headed by Dr. Ellen Dooley and Mr. Chris Chiang, is gearing up for the Model UN event in Stanford next month, and maybe even the big event in New-York next year. Stay tuned!
