Joe’s Violin – Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival – Visits Kehillah in Palo Alto
This year, in remembrance of Kristallnacht, the Silicon Valley Film Festival visited Kehillah regarding its recent feature, Academy Award-nominated short documentary, Joe’s Violin. The film is about how a donated violin forges an improbable friendship between 91-year-old Holocaust survivor, Joe Feingold, and 12-year-old Bronx school girl, Brianna Perez, showing how the power of music can bring light in the darkest of times and how a small act can have a great impact. Brianna Perez played and spoke to the Kehillah students during our annual programming. Brianna is now in 10th grade at a performing arts high school. The violin has been passed to its 3rd recipient in the music program at her middle school in the Bronx.
