Dr. Daisy Pellant is in her fourth year as Head of School at Kehillah. During her thirty year career, Daisy has been fortunate to be part of communities at the Auckland Help Foundation, the American School of Kuwait, the International School of Beijing, the International School of Tbilisi, Saint Paul Academy, Breck School, and Buckingham Browne & Nichols School.
A lifelong learner, Daisy completed Masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of St. Thomas, and in Mind, Brain, and Education (MBE), at Harvard University. While at Harvard, she served as Dr. Kurt Fischer’s Head Teaching Fellow and was the recipient of the Nan Haar Award for outstanding work by a graduate student in Mind, Brain and Education. She received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Capella University where she had a research collaboration with Search Institute studying the assets that help adolescents thrive. In 2021, she was awarded Columbia University's Teachers College Klingenstein Forge Fellowship and in 2022, she was awarded the Klingenstein Heads of Schools Fellowship.
In 2023, Daisy announced that Kehillah was named the Western site for the Center for Teaching & Transformative Learning (CTTL) 2024 Academy. As a partner site, Kehillah will be offering the Science of Teaching and School Leadership Academy in July of 2024. Kehillah will welcome teachers from across the region for an intensive weeklong professional development experience focused on MBE research and how it transforms teaching and learning.
Never far from the classroom, Daisy continues to lead the 9th-grade seminar and conduct yearly workshops for parents and faculty. She has worked hard to create a vibrant culture at Kehillah in which students and faculty are seen, known and feel that they truly belong.
