Kehillah Debates and Conquers!
– A First Time Debate Competition with Extraordinary Results
The Kehillah Debate Team competed (for the first time!) in the California Forensic League debate and speech competition this past weekend in Milpitas. Our team competed in Lincoln Douglas Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Impromptu speaking, which included Alex Forrester (’22), Annie Wu (’23), Ben Gervin (’22), Isabella Keller (’23), and Oliver Hoover (’21). A total of 32 schools with 351 student entries competed in Debate events and 728 student entries from 31 schools competed in speech events. Ben Gervin went undefeated (tied for 1st) in the Lincoln Douglas Debates and he and Oliver Hoover (tied for 3rd) ranked in the top 4 for the JV division.
Annie Wu was one placing away from breaking to finals in Varsity Impromptu Speaking.
