Lauren McElhatton loves storytelling in all forms; she feels that teaching is a perfect outlet for sharing marvelous stories while expanding students’ minds and abilities. A dynamic and skillful literature teacher, Ms. McElhatton has been teaching students to write cleverly and discover the power of the narrative for over 12 years, in both public and private schools. She attended UC San Diego as an undergraduate, Stanford University for graduate school, and holds a California teaching credential. A lifelong learner, she has worked on accreditation projects, grants, and writing of her own, having been published in a Stanford scholarly journal. Travelling extensively, Ms. McElhatton lived in South Africa for a year and taught briefly in South Korea. When away from school, you can usually find her running half marathons or fine-tuning her work with a pen or a camera.
