Paula grew up in Saratoga, California and was the only California native of her family as the rest were born in New York and Arizona before they moved to the Bay Area. She attended Temple Emanuel in San Jose and her family was involved in Temple leadership and growing the small community. After high school, she went to UCLA starting as a pre-med, as her father was a doctor, but switched to economics. Paula went to London School of Economics for a semester and worked on a presidential campaign in Washington DC for a summer. Later she studied for her MBA at Northwestern but came back to California for opportunities in marketing in the high tech industry. She worked for large computer companies such as DEC, HP, and Quantum and met her husband at a singles event in San Francisco. Ken has been in financial marketing for over 20 years.
In addition to being on the KJHS Board, Paula is a member of Peninsula Temple Sholom and on board of Peninsula Jewish Community Center. Paula and Ken Meier have two kids who started their journeys at the JCC preschool. Daniel will be a senior at Kehillah Jewish High School and Lauren will be a junior at George Washington University. The family enjoys traveling, sports, and volunteering in the community.
