1 Billion Rising Movement at Kehillah – Recap
On Friday, February 13th, Kehillah participated in a global movement bringing awareness to violence against women. The movement is known as 1 Billion Rising.
The entire school wore red in support. Students who were signed up to participate read poems, presented various videos, led discussions regarding society's perception of women, expressed to the community why they were rising, and performed the official 1 Billion Rising dance to the song "Break the Chain" (which was also performed across the world). At the end of the dance, the entire school and community who attended joined in, dancing and holding their fingers in the air as a symbol of solidarity for the movement.
It was a touching and inspiring program produced by our art teacher, Jen Idleman.
